When most people think of a DJ, an image of a man or woman wearing headphones standing behind astack of the CD’s, records, and digital music equipment usually comes to mind. Some may remember aDJ who provided the musical entertainment at a wedding reception or other party. In the book, TheTrauma Zone, author Dr. R. Dandridge Collins, introduces a different type of DJ – the“Trauma DJ,” whoinstead of music, spins the same negative messages to the dance floor of the mind. These repetitivemessages fuel the unhealthy emotions and behavior, according to Dr. Collins.

The EP, “The Call” is Available Now on iTunes
“Anyone that does any kind of worship leading or singing knows that you have to be in the right spirit to lead God’s people into worshiping,” says Damon Wilkerson of DWilks and Friends, a minister and budding gospel artist based in Philly. The North Philly native spoke about his debut EP release “The Call” and how his father’s battle with Parkinson’s disease led him to creating “Now Unto Him” a song on the EP.
“One Sunday I was having difficulty getting my thoughts together. All I could think of was my father is sick and here I am a minister, a worship leader…I believe in the Word of God, but I can’t pray my father’s healing into place…and then I heard the words “Now unto Him who is able to do all things, exceedingly, abundantly…He can heal. He can deliver,” says DWilks who ministers at Vision of Missions Tabernacle.
Drumming since age 4, preaching since 18 in a family of pastors, and leading praise and worship for several years, Wilkerson is now taking his ministry to a wider audience through gospel recordings. “Jesus is calling all of us to Him and there’s one thing that’s certain, you will respond…either with a yes or a no,” says DWilks about being called.
The EP, “The Call” is available now on iTunes and features three singles including “Now Unto Him,” “The Call,” and “I’m Your’s Lord”. The songs primarily express healing, surrender, praise and the call to the salvation of Christ. “Each song is bible based, coming right from the scriptures…and I added music to it” says DWilks, who recently featured at Gospel Triple Play hosted by Praise Philly’s Lonnie Hunter.

Dana Hemphill to release Debut Project “I Will Declare” Available on iTunes October 19th
Please help me welcome anointed psalmist Dana Hemphill to the recording industry! Mere words fail to describe the grace and sincere anointing that rests on this psalmist and worshiper. Dana’s journey of faith included embarking on a cross country journey in obedience to God. Leaving family and familiarity behind in Kansas; Hemphill’s journey of faith has taken her full circle. As cumbersome as life’s low points may be, high points like marrying the love of her life (Lewis) and the birth of their daughter have made her journey of faith worth the while. It should come as no surprise that Dana Hemphill is now a recording artist. She got her start recording with the C.O.G.I.C. National Sunshine Band (1992) and in her professional career has ministered with top gospel artists.
Steps of Faith
Since coming to Texas, Hemphill has increased her visibility on stage and in theatre. Her latest appearances on stage include performances in “The Replacement Wife” alongside Tommy Ford
(Martin) and iconic R&B singer Shirley Murdock. Earlier this year, Hemphill took the stage with co-stars Terri J. Vaughn and Christian Keyes in the critically acclaimed smash “Just Like Yo
Daddy”. Hemphill has also ministered on stage with the likes of Pastor John P. Kee, Pastor Kim Burrell, Bishop Rance Allen, Dr. Dorinda Clark-Cole, Fred Hammond, David and Tamela Mann and most recently with Myron Butler.
I shall live and not die…
The plans of the Lord are perfect and complete. Hemphill intimated that though her journey is replete with challenging moments, her faith continues to grow. She is now ready to share her
declaration with the world, telling of the goodness of the Lord. Whether ministering on stage or leading worship at the Koinonia Christian Church, Hemphill’s ‘offering’ reaches the Heavens.
Hemphill’s scriptural reference and declaration are derived from Psalm 118:17 and the she has a mighty declaration for the people of God.
Let’s talk about it!

The story of Ruth is a story of collisions — loss, heartache, poverty, even shame. She could have let her past define her. Instead, the most painful time of her life also became her most pivotal, propelling her to a destiny she never imagined. By allowing God to transform her circumstances, this once downtrodden foreign widow became the great-grandmother of King David!
In a recent interview, gospel singer Mandisa admitted she draws strength from her own music while on tour.
“I’m fighting every day — it’s not just for a final destination,” Mandisa said to MLive.com, regarding her life and the encouragement of her song, “Overcomer.”
In the interview the singer reveals one of her biggest struggles is with weight. She has lost 100 pounds since 2006.
“It’s an every-day, one-decision, one-temptation at a time battle I’m choosing to fight,” she said in the interview.
A particular stinging comment from Simon Cowell when Mandisa was “American Idol” about her weight put the issue in front of a national audience.
“When he made those comments it put my story out there very publicly, and I think people will say, ‘If she can do it, I can do it, too,” she said concerning Cowell’s remark about her figure in regards to being an “American Idol.”
They two met again in 2009 after she had lost 70 pounds and Cowell was encouraging and said he was “proud” of her.
She is currently on the “Brandisa Tour,” a play of her name and fellow tour mate, Brandon Heath.
Mandisa performed the National Anthem this past Sunday in honor of Breast Cancer Month for an NFL game that featured the 49ers and Texans on the NFL Network.
While Mandisa was singing, survivors of Breast Cancer joined her on stage.
The NFL and NFL Players Association are supporting National Breast Cancer Awareness Month with their fifth annual screening initiative, “A Crucial Catch: Annual Screening Saves Lives,” and a fundraising campaign. The initiative reminds women 40 and older about the importance of having an annual mammogram.
The Grand Ole Opry also asked Mandisa to unit with them on Tuesday, Oct. 22, for Women Rock For The Cure to battle breast cancer at the fifth annual “Opry Goes Pink” show.
Mandisa’s music video for “Overcomer” debuted two weeks ago exclusively on the “Good Morning America” website.
The video features appearances with former U.S. Congresswoman Gabby Giffords, Captain Mark Kelly, Gold Medalist Scott Hamilton, and “GMA” host Robin Roberts.
“We chose each of them because when we thought of who has been an example of an overcomer in a very public battle, it is hard to imagine anyone more appropriate than the amazing people in my video. They have all fought, and continue to fight victoriously. I pray that sharing their inspirational stories throughout the video will leave people saying, ‘If they can do it, so can I!'” Mandisa said in a press release.
“I was really inspired by Mandisa’s song ‘Overcomer’ because its message is one of hope, perseverance and faith,” said Gabby Giffords, former U.S. Congresswoman about the song in a statement. “We can’t always control what happens to us in life, but we can control how we respond. Like the song says, if we keep positive and ‘stay in the fight till the final round,’ we can overcome more than we ever dreamed possible.”
